61 Blower fault - blower not running

Critical severity Rheem/Ruud 802P / 80MDP 80% two-stage furnace (UT 1028-928 IFC)R95PRGPE/RGLE

What the control is telling you

802P/R95P: main limit open more than 150 seconds during a heat call, so the control declares a dead blower and stops gas heat (61+22 while open, 61+10 during 1-hour lockout; 4th time in one call = hard lockout, reset by cycling the heat call). RGPE/RGLE: ECM blower not running (BLWR FLT-NO RUN), Call For Service.

Applies to: 802P/80MDP (802PA050-150); R95P (R95PA040-115); RGPE/RGLE 2-stage 80+

Likely causes

  • Blower motor failed
  • Bad blower capacitor (PSC models)
  • No line voltage at blower
  • Broken wiring between IFC and motor
  • Severe airflow restriction
  • RGPE/RGLE: no 24 V to ECM control, PFC choke problem

Test and repair steps

  1. 802P / R95P check line voltage between HEAT and NEUTRAL on the IFC during a heat call; check the blower capacitor.
  2. Check wiring and continuity between IFC and blower motor.
  3. RGPE/RGLE check 24 V at the ECM low-voltage connector pins 1 and 4, 115 VAC to the motor, and the PFC choke and its wiring.
  4. Check the blower motor and wheel; replace the motor if it does not run with correct power and signals.
  5. Check filter and ducts for restriction.
  6. Lockouts clear when the fault is fixed and power is cycled; a soft lockout can also be cleared by removing the heat call for more than 2 but less than 20 seconds.
